Hello! Matthias here from LeuchtNatur. Today I'm going to tell you about our most extraordinary materials: genuine hay lamps and lights made from pressed leaves. These natural treasures create an atmosphere in your home that you've never experienced before.
As I mentioned, it all started with a piece of wood veneer. But discovering the possibilities with alpine hay and leaves was even more fascinating. Imagine: you switch on your leaf lamps and smell the subtle scent of mountain meadows. This is design that appeals to all the senses.

Our partner Walter Moosmair from Niedersteinhof in Passeiertal supplies us with the highest quality alpine hay. Through uncompromising organic farming without harmful substances, his hay achieves a quality that you can smell and feel. Each alpine hay lamp tells the story of the South Tyrolean mountain meadows. These materials bring real nature into your home – not an imitation, but the authentic beauty of dried alpine meadows.
The five variations and their special properties
Rose petal hay lamps combine the romance of dried roses with the rusticity of alpine hay. The pink accents between the grass blades create a warm, almost golden light. When you switch on this light in the evening, a romantic atmosphere is created that is both calming and enchanting. The dried rose petals retain their shape and color for years, while the alpine hay retains its characteristic scent. Perfect for bedrooms or cozy reading corners where you are looking for a romantic, calming atmosphere. The light is interestingly refracted by the different material thicknesses and creates lively patterns on the walls.
Untreated alpine hay shows the pure beauty of the mountain meadows. Here you can see the natural colors and structures as nature has created them over months of growth. The light is particularly warm and evenly distributed, as the hay has a very homogeneous structure. This variant suits all interior styles and brings an authentic alpine atmosphere to any room. The natural scent is subtle but noticeable – like a breath of mountain air in your living room. Especially in combination with wooden furniture or natural materials, untreated alpine hay unfolds its full effect.

Cornflower hay lamps impress with their blue splashes of color in the golden hay. The cornflowers create interesting contrasts and make every light a real eye-catcher. The translucent light gets a particularly lively touch from the blue blossoms – the colors seem to dance when the light penetrates them. This combination of warm golden tones of the hay and cool blue tones of the cornflowers creates a balanced, harmonious lighting mood. Cornflower hay lamps are perfect for country house style, but also for modern interiors where you want to set natural accents.

Alpine meadow hay lamps show the full diversity of mountain flora. Various grasses, small blossoms, and herbs create a colorful potpourri that brings every season into your home. This mixture is particularly varied and never boring – every glance discovers new details in the natural composition. The light is unevenly scattered, which creates interesting effects. Sometimes brighter where there are thinner spots, sometimes more subdued where several layers overlap.
Leaf lamps made from pressed natural leaves create very unique effects. The different shapes and sizes of the leaves create a lively pattern that casts fascinating shadows on the walls when the light is switched on. Each leaf has its own structure, its veins, and irregularities, which become visible when illuminated. The result is an organic, never uniform light pattern that adds vibrancy to your room.

Which variant is suitable for which rooms
Bedrooms particularly benefit from rose petal or untreated alpine hay variants. The warm, subdued light relaxes, and the natural scent has a calming effect. A Ligna table lamp on the bedside table provides perfect reading light without disturbing. The natural green tones of the materials have an almost meditative effect and help you unwind after a stressful day. The rose petal variant, in particular, creates a romantic atmosphere that makes the bedroom a true retreat.
Living rooms can happily accommodate the more colorful variants such as cornflower or alpine meadow hay. As a Discus pendant light above the coffee table or as a ceiling light, they create cozy basic lighting with natural accents. The large, diffuse light of the Discus with 55 cm diameter illuminates large areas evenly, while the hay structure provides interesting light effects on the ceiling. Cornflower hay becomes a conversation starter here and brings color into the room.

Kitchens and dining areas shine with a special atmosphere under alpine hay pendant lights. The natural scent perfectly complements cooking activities and creates an inviting, warm atmosphere during meals. Untreated alpine hay or alpine meadow variants are ideal here, as they emphasize the natural character of the kitchen and dining room.
Entrance areas immediately become more inviting with leaf lights. The natural materials convey a sense of naturalness and groundedness to guests. A Ligno with leaf veneer in the entrance sets the tone for the entire house and shows your appreciation for natural beauty.
Craftsmanship with passion from Bavaria
Each of our hay and leaf lights is created through Bavarian craftsmanship. This means: real people select the material, gently press it, and assemble it into veneers. This work requires experience and intuition, because every natural raw material behaves differently.

The alpine hay comes directly from the South Tyrolean mountain meadows to us in Übersee in Chiemgau. Here it is carefully sorted, cleaned, and processed into veneers with harmless binders. Every step of the work is done by hand, because only in this way can we preserve the delicate structures. The cornflowers are individually inserted, the rose petals carefully placed so that they retain their shape during pressing.
With leaves, the challenge is even greater. Each leaf must be treated individually, pressed, and stabilized without losing its natural shape. Our craftsmen have developed the perfect technique over years to make these fragile natural materials permanently durable. The secret lies in the right pressing time, the optimal moisture content, and the suitable binders.

You see and feel the result in every detail: from the even light distribution to the natural scent – here, real skill works together with the beauty of nature. These lamps are created with attention to detail and respect for natural materials. You immediately notice the difference from mass-produced products when you experience the quality of workmanship and the authenticity of the materials.
Why these materials create such special light
The magic of hay and leaf lights lies in their natural irregularity. Unlike industrially manufactured materials, each area of the shade has a different density, a different structure. This leads to a play of light that lives and changes, depending on the angle from which you view it.
Alpine hay with cornflowers, for example, creates a warm base light with cooler blue accents. This color combination is relaxing for the eyes and creates a balanced lighting atmosphere. Rose petal hay, on the other hand, enhances the warm tones and creates a particularly cozy, romantic mood.
The leaf veneers have the advantage of showing very fine structures. The leaf veins become visible when illuminated and draw natural patterns on walls and ceiling. These organic shapes soothe the eye and create a relaxed atmosphere.

My advice: Let nature inspire you
After all these years with these special materials, I can assure you: hay and leaf lights bring a tranquility to the room that artificial materials can never achieve. They connect us with nature and create an atmosphere that is both relaxing and inspiring.
Try it yourself – imagine the warm light shining through real alpine hay or pressed leaves into your living room in the evening. You will immediately feel this connection to nature. The subtle scent, the lively light effects, the certainty of owning a piece of real nature – all this makes these lights something special.
Our hay and leaf lights are more than just light sources – they are a piece of nature, crafted with love and skill by Bavarian artisans. Each light is unique, created from materials that bring their own story.
